Forthcoming Adventure - Aru Pahalgam

Pahalgam is situated 96 kilometers (60 miles) east of Srinagar.

Aru is small village, 11 kms upstream the Lidder River, is a beautiful locality. The route is picturesque with ample campsites. This village is the starting point for treks to the Kolahoi glacier.

This charming meadow can be reached by walking along a mountain path. The river Lidder disappears at Gur Khumb and reappears after 27 mts.

Situated 2130m up at the convergence of the streams flowing from Sheshnag Lake and the Lidder River, Pahalgam was once a self-effacing shepherd's village with breathtaking views. Now it is Kashmir's leading resort, cool even during the height of summer when the maximum temperature does not exceed 250C. Around Pahalgam are many places of interest, and because the resort is set between fairly steep hills, it is worth hiring a pony rather than walking. Horse fares are posted at prominent locations.

The most beautiful of the nearby locations is the huge, surging meadow of Baisaran, surrounded by thickly wooded forests of pine. Hajan, on the way to Chandanwari, is an pleasant spot for a picnic. Filmgoers will recognize it instantly as it has been the location of several movie scenes.

Pahalgam has within it no fewer than eight tiny villages, one of which is Mamal. There is a Shiva temple here, generally considered to be Kashmir's oldest offered temple, dating to the 5th century.

Expedition Schedule:

1 st Day: Ahmedabad to Jammu

2 nd Day: Arrival and reception at Jammu railway station and transfer to hotel.

3 rd Day: Jammu-Pahalgam-Aru
Early morning drive to Pahalgam (8hrs). From Pahalgam we will further go to Aru about 10 kms which will be our base camp. Stay in Aru

4 th Day: Aru-Katrinag-Aru
Trek to Katrinag Valley en route a step 100 meters high waterfall surrounded by wild strawberries and flowers. Before Katrinag there is a small beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. Return to Aru base camp.

5 th Day: Aru-Lidderwat-Aru
Trek to lidderwat about 3-4hrs through pine forest where the stream from Kolhai Glacier meets the stream from the Tarsar lake. Return to base camp by evening.

6 th Day: Aru-Betab Valley-Aru After early breakfast leave for betab valley. Here you can enjoy some adventure sports in the picturesque of Betab Valley.

7 th Day: Aru-Pahalgam-Srinagar Pick up from Aru and drive to Srinagar en route sightseeing of Pahalgam and Awantipora ( Awantika Ruins Temple ). Afternoon Shikara ride in Dal Lake. Stay in houseboat/hotel.

8 th Day: Srinagar-Jammu Transfer to bus station for your journey to Jammu. On arrival transfer to hotel

9 th Day: Transfer to Station Transfer to railway station for your next destination.

10 th Day: Arrival to Ahmedabad
